UPDATE: Cipher Pharmaceuticals - Sun Pharmaceuticals has officially begun marketing of Absorica LD in Canada as of early December

I came across this news as it was unfolding in the Canadian Drug Product Database when Sun Pharma initially filed Absorica LD for marketing.

Quietly - and not so quietly, this has led to some confusion. I’m in agreement with my Siamese cat friend here:

This confusion is related to the actions surrounding Sun Pharma in the US where the licensing agreement between Cipher & Sun for Absorica was extended by several years (and shockingly, where sales have grown as of last quarter). On one hand these companies have been partners in dermatology for some time now, and their entrance into Canada has made them competitors.

On the Q2 2023 earnings call you will find some discussion from management on the product.

I’m not going to opine on what my belief here is. But it’s probably something my readers should be aware of.
