Medtronic navigation use; seamless experience with headframe
emphasis on accuracy of the SmartFrame as importance to practice
can easily teach a resident
can use a nurse to setup ahead much of equipment of surgery
very straight forward
the most accurate system is the most important selling point for him
often finds no wasted movements during workflow
the disposable system itself becomes advantageous vs non disposable systems
sometimes stereotactic systems with parts will be missing for other systems due to higher complexity
is actively teaching residents on this system
value provided to hospital operations by
can do (but often doesn’t) 3 dbs implants in 1 day vs 1 per day with unspecified workflow/product
Helps early practices start up due to lower upfront costs
bi-lateral implant cases most efficient to use 2 smartframes
“fantastic clinical outcomes” however no reported change to his clinical outcome frequency. Prefers system for reason above vs substantial change to clinical outcomes.
